Paris Hilton opens up about decision to have children via surrogate
The 42-year-old hotel heiress and socialite opened up about expanding her family in the season two premiere of her reality show Paris in Love.
She said while she would have “loved” being pregnant, due to her life in the spotlight she and her husband Carter Reum, 42, decided to have their two children via surrogate.
The couple’s son, Phoenix, was born in January this year. Last month, Hilton announced the birth of her daughter, London.
On the show, Hilton said: “The surrogacy process, it was definitely a difficult decision to make. But my life has just been so public.”
She said she would: “Have loved that experience of growing the baby in your tummy and feeling the kicks and all of those exciting moments” but decided safety should come first.
Hilton continued: “So even though the baby is biologically mine and Carter's, we decided to have a surrogate carry him.”
Her husband continued the sentiment. “Now having a family with Paris, we want our family to grow up and be normal and not always be known as Paris Hilton's children. We have to think about safety.
“When we go to the farmer's market, it's one thing if someone stops and asks Paris for a photo. It's a whole other thing with the baby in tow in a stroller.
“I don't think we know everything the journey's gonna throw at us, but we're just gonna tackle it as we go.”
About her upcoming series, Hilton told People that she was excited for fans to see a new side of her as she embraced family life and motherhood.
“You get to experience a really in-depth look into my life and [see] what a fun mom I am,” she said.
Hilton shared on Thanksgiving Day she had welcomed a new baby girl. She shared a picture of a pink newborn outfit that featured the name, “London”, embroidered across the front.
She captioned the post: “Thankful for my baby girl.”
The star also posted a video on TikTok, where she asked her niece and nephew: “Are you excited to see your new cousin?” before commenting under the video, “My princess has arrived.”
She also shared another sweet video to the platform which saw her holding son Phoenix, captioned, “Celebrating Phoenix the ‘Big Brother’ on #Thanksgiving”.
After announcing the news, the socialite-turned-DJ was inundated with congratulatory messages from fans and famous friends.
Supermodel Naomi Campbell commented underneath the post, “Congratulations [Paris] and welcome London”.
“Omggg! Congratulations you guys! This is so amazing! Cant wait to meet London!” penned Kimora Lee Simmons.
Actress Dakota Fanning wrote: “Yaaaaaaaassssss!!!!!!!! Amazing news” while a fan excitedly shared: “PARIS AND LONDON. ICONS”.
Adding to the excitement, the 42-year-old also posted a picture of her son Phoenix to her Instagram Story which she captioned: “The big brother.”
