Three-year-old calls police and climbs over child gate to let them in after mum is knocked unconscious
Kayleigh Boffey, 33, fell down the stairs and hit her head, causing her to fall unconscious. Her son Thomas, just three-years-old, managed to dial 999 and speak to police.
“Mummy’s fell upstairs,” he told the dispatcher. He then climbed over the baby gate to locate the house keys so he could open the front door and let paramedics in.

The child knew to call 999 after seeing it happen on an animated YouTube series called Robocar POLI. The Korean series is about a cartoon police car, ambulance, and fire engine who are all friends. Together, they teach children how to respond to an emergency.
Kayleigh was taken to the hospital where she was treated for knee, ankle, shoulder, and hip injuries.
The fall was caused by a pre-existing hernia an enlarged spleen, with the overwhelming pain knocking her off balance.
“I remember shutting the stair gate, and the next minute I knew I woke up speaking to someone on the phone, and then the police were in the house,” she said. “He climbed up onto my window sill in the living room to get my phone and he managed to phoned the operator.”
“He’s like a mini superhero and, especially for his age, it’s really amazing how he knew what to do and he understood and didn’t get scared,” Kayleigh continued. “I want people to know what my son did and how important it is to learn kids what to do if anything happens in an emergency.”
