Disturbing daycare centre footage shows white kids given food before black classmates

A US daycare centre has been sharply condemned after footage appeared to show white children being served food before their black classmates.

The Kids ‘R’ Kids centre in Roswell, Georgia, was reportedly broadcasting an all-day livestream – so that parents could check up on their children – when the incident was spotted.

One father logged in to see how his two-year-old son was getting on when he spotted white kids tucking into plates of food while their black counterparts watched on, empty-handed.

“They were skipping all of the black kids it seemed like,” dad Adryan McCauley told CBS46.

“All the white kids got their lunch, and all the black kids had to wait. From the videos and pictures that we saw today, we are just completely disturbed.”

McCauley’s partner then rushed to the centre to pick up their son and, when she confronted the director on what had happened, he pleaded ignorance.

“I’m not really sure because I’m not in the classroom,” he allegedly said. “Maybe it’s a dietary thing.”

The family then shared a screenshot of the shocking scene on Instagram in order to draw attention to the issue, according to the Daily Mail.

Addressing the post to Kids R’ Kids, under the username @marquis_dagreat, the dad wrote: “This is truly unbelievable. You better know this won’t be the last time you hear from me on this.

“Why does every white kid have their food? Not one black child has food in front of them! Thank God for cameras in classrooms because there is no way to hide this racism!”

“In the year 2021 this is truly unbelievable. As blacks we always strive to send our kids to schools in Suburban areas, but I’m telling you first hand that is not always best.

“This is not a black or white issue, this is simply wrong.”

Kids R Kids has a number of schools across America and claims, on its website, to “desire the absolute best for the children in our care”.

The group’s president and CEO David Vinson responded to the claims on Thursday by announcing that the company would be terminating its “contract and branding” with the Roswell branch “effective immediately”.

Here’s his full statement:

It isn’t yet clear whether the site will continue to operate as an independent daycare.

Dee Gillespie, director and owner of the now shunned location, has since defended her colleagues actions, in a statement shared with the Daily Mail.

“We know the act was random, and the photo doesn’t show the entire room,” she said.

“We believe if the parents viewed the videos they would understand.

“I wish they could see the compassion we have.”
